Cassandra Granville is working with CNAY as a Bill Emerson Hunger Fellow through the Congressional Hunger Center. The fellowship works to train leaders in the movement to end hunger and poverty in the United States through placements with community-based organizations and policy-focused organizations. For her fieldwork, Granville investigated the influence of a community development financial institution on the livelihoods of refugee entrepreneurs in Buffalo, New York. Her work at CNAY supports the development of the 2020 State of Native Youth Report.
 
Granville graduated from the University of Michigan with a  B.A. in Community and Global Public Health. While at the University of Michigan, Granville gained experience conducting all stages of the research process with a strong focus on equity and community ownership. Granville hopes to use her public health experience to help create more healing spaces and opportunities for Black people and other people of color.
