Did you know that teen guys who like guys are at a high risk for getting infected with HIV? Every year, about 1,425 teen guys who have sex with guys become infected with HIV in the United States. But, very few programs to prevent HIV in teen guys exist, and of those that do exist, most are created for straight teens and older gay, bi, and queer guys.
That’s why we created the SMART Project – a real-world sex ed and HIV prevention program specifically for teen guys who like guys! The SMART Project also covers topics that are important to gay, bi, and queer teen guys, like navigating sex and romantic relationships, understanding their sexual and gender identities, and connecting with the LGBT Community. SMART will be entirely online, available in English and Spanish, for teens who live in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. We hope that through SMART, you feel safe, confident, and empowered!
As of 2010, there were over 2.1 million American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) under the age of 24 living in the U.S.
"I feel the youth in my community oftentimes lack a voice. When we as youth are not represented in the community, our people are living out of balance."
