Age: 21

My name is Nizhoni Toledo, and I carry my art the way I carry my name, with pride, purpose and the heartbeat of my people. I am a 21-year-old Indigenous artist, and proud enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. My work is born from the stories passed down by my ancestors, the colors of the land that raised me and the traditions that shape who I am.

When I create, I am weaving the old with the new, honoring the legacies entrusted to me, while giving them breath in the present.

A family stands rooted in tradition, framed by blossoms of spirit and sky. The horse carries patterns of legacy, the basket overflows with harvest, and the cradleboard holds tomorrow’s hope. Nature swirls in vibrant colors around them, reminding us that what is sacred lives in kinship, in sustenance, and in the stories carried forward.
