Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, Fort Belknap Nakoda, Fort Peck Lakota, Little Shell Chippewa & Navajo Nation

Kateri Azure (she/her) is an enrolled citizen of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, with lineage from the Diné, Nakoda, Lakota and Chippewa peoples. She maintains strong ties to the Fort Belknap Indian Community in Montana, home of the Nakoda and Aaniiih Nations, where her commitment to community care, advocacy and Indigenous self-determination was shaped. Kateri earned her B.A. in Criminal Justice from Seattle University, specializing in criminology and criminal theory. Her interests center Indigenous sovereignty, education equity and justice reform.

Based in the Bay Area, Kateri works in higher education advancing Native and Indigenous student success through systems change. She serves as a Program Coordinator for a Native & Indigenous Student Success Center, where she mentors student leaders, builds culturally grounded programming, and advocates for equitable policies, resources and institutional accountability. Her work focuses on removing barriers that Native students face and creating spaces where they can lead, belong and thrive. She is passionate about strengthening pathways for Native youth and helping transform institutions to better serve Indigenous communities.
