Round Valley Indian Tribes - Pomo & Concow

Payton McCoy (she/her) was raised on the Round Valley Indian Reservation in Northern California and is affiliated with the Pomo and Concow peoples of the Round Valley Indian Tribes. She is currently a freshman at Sacramento State University, majoring in Child & Adolescent Development, Care and Education. Payton’s goal is to become an elementary school teacher who creates a safe and supportive environment where children can develop social skills, build confidence and gain independence, while learning and growing alongside one another.

During high school, Payton was actively involved in the Native American Club and served as its president during her senior year. In this role, she helped plan fundraisers, organized large community events and participated in meaningful educational field trips. Her involvement in multiple clubs and organizations—including the Native American Club, ASB and FFA—strengthened her passion for leadership, cultural involvement and school engagement, while deepening her commitment to giving back to her community.
