Amaria is a recent graduate from the University of Washington with B.A. in Law, Societies & Justice and Political Science, and a Minor in Human Rights. She has held various positions across federal, state and Tribal governments, focusing on policy efforts to strengthen environmental protections and services for Indigenous and other marginalized communities. Ultimately, she is working towards attending law school and pursuing a career in Environmental or Federal Indian Law.

About Amaria’s Project

In summer of 2026, thousands from around the Pacific Northwest will gather Amaria’s Tribal community. During her time in the Brave Heart program, she plans to create a plain-language “Know Your Law” toolkit and a visual jurisdiction map clarifying Tribal, state and federal authority over the Nisqually River. The toolkit will explain treaty-protected environmental rights, relevant environmental laws (e.g., Clean Water Act, Boldt Decision, etc.), and step-by-step guidance on how community members can respond to pollution, illegal dumping or habitat destruction.
