This project focused on supporting the Shinnecock Community during its annual Nunnowa Feast through food donations, volunteer service, and community care. A total of 300 Nunnowa Blessing Bags were assembled and distributed, each containing snacks and treats including Bugles, Candy Corn, M&Ms, Beef Jerky, Pretzels, and Craisins to help provide comfort and nourishment for community members attending the celebration.
In addition to preparing the blessing bags, 150 pounds of potatoes were donated to help meet the remaining food needs for the feast, along with catering trays of Chicken Caesar Salad. The project involved organizing supplies, shopping for food donations, and ensuring the feast had the resources needed to serve the community successfully.
More than 300 Shinnecock Community members gathered together for the Nunnowa celebration, making the event a meaningful expression of unity, culture, and tradition. Through leadership, generosity, and service, Yanabah was recognized by the community as a young leader for her kindness, dedication, and willingness to provide additional monetary support where needed to help make the dinner and celebration possible.
