Connecting Native youth to pathways of civic engagement
About the Training
The Center for Native American Youth’s Democracy is Indigenous training equips emerging young leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary for civic engagement, encouraging them to actively participate in shaping the future of their communities. This workshop affirms Tribal Sovereignty by explaining what we mean when we say “Democracy is Indigenous” — connecting it to the Haudenesaune Great Law of Peace and other historical examples of Tribal policies that influence today’s political systems.
Connecting the past with the present, this workshop will also provide participants with detailed information on how to get started on a community-action project, including a surprise funding opportunity for all who attend. CNAY hopes to engage, educate and activate Indigenous youth to make the changes they wish to see in their communities!
We have previously attended youth gatherings like the Oneida Youth Summit, UNITY Conference and NCAI Youth events.
