ISADORA O., 15
CHINOOK, ISLETA PUEBLO
When I think of my what gives me strength I immediately think of my ancestors. I live my life with my ancestors in mind. My people think our ancestors live in the trees. So for my drawing I put them in a cedar tree doing traditional activities. For the dancer I put Marvin Oliver’s (my father) salmon egg. He’s helped me get to where I am art wise. Unfortunately, he passed away last year so I wanted to honor him in this piece. At the bottom I’m looking up to my ancestors wearing traditional Chinook regalia and holding paddle.
