Elizah Dominy

Khootxheech ayá axh saayí. Goos’ki kw’aani xh’einaxh Elizah Dominy yei xhat duwasaakw. Chookaneidi naax xhat sitee, Deisheetaan yadi aya xhat. Deisheetaan ka Lakota, Ka Nakota-x sitee. My Lingít name is Khootxheech, my English name is Elizah Dominy and I am Chookaneidi. My grandparents are the Deisheetaan, the Lakota and Nakota. I am a young mother of two, Indigenous birth doula, language learner & teacher, elected tribal representative and artist. I honor our cultural teachings and traditional values through visual representation in my art. Gunalcheesh!

Coming from a historically traditional matrilineal and matriarchal culture, I find it imperative we return back to honoring our ancestral values by honoring women and respecting Mother Earth and the divine feminine energy within the universe. We need to rematriate the land, water and universe to return back to our ways of honoring feminine beauty and all that it encompasses within our connection to the astral realm as Indigenous people.
