I am Native American and African American. Sometimes, I struggle with my ethnicity. I want to represent my native side more and be more engaged with my race and it’s culture because it’s really beautiful and I am honored to have native blood running through my veins. From where I stand now, my opportunities to connect with my native culture is low but then I remember that even if i am not always around my culture, even if I am mixed, even if I am a reconnecting/connecting native, I AM STILL INDIGENOUS. So that’s what this painting is about.
