Jeamilett Martinez (she/her) is Jñatrjo (Mazahua) from San José del Rincón, Estado de México and Ñuu Savi (Mixtec) from Santiago Yosondúa, Oaxaca by way of Tovangaar (Greater Los Angeles). She is a sophomore studying the intersection of environmental science and Native studies at Brown University. Last summer, Jeamilett researched Indigenous ways of knowing at the National Center for Atmospheric Research through the NSF SOARS program.
Currently, she mentors Indigenous students with AISES We Are All Scientists, facilitates science discussions through CDLS and researches Traditional Ecological Knowledge at UMFK. Her recognitions include the Center for Developing Leadership in Science (CDLS) Fellowship Award, Oaxaqueñx Youth Encuentro SEMILLAS Award and Indigenous Knowledge Research Program Award.
