Kaylah Toves (she/her) is a Kanaka Maoli and Acoma Pueblo activist passionate about language revitalization and Indigenous-based education. Currently a senior at Cornell University, she is double majoring in Government and American Studies with a minor in American Indian and Indigenous Studies.
On campus, Kaylah serves as a student leader and advocate, acting as Co-President of Cornell’s American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) chapter, Co-President of the Cornell Hawaiʻi Club and a Student Ambassador for the Brooks School of Public Policy’s Cornell in Washington program.
Academically and professionally, Kaylah conducts legal research with Cornell Law School’s Legal Information Institute, where she analyzes gender-based inequities across all 50 states. She also spent Fall 2024 in Washington, DC as a Legislative Intern in Senator Brian Schatz’s office, where she supported policy research and constituent services on issues impacting Hawaiʻi and Native communities.
