I am a senior at Alamo Navajo Community School. I have lived here all of my life. I have an older brother and a younger sister. We all like drawing and painting. Since my Mother’s death last year we are living with my Grandma.
Wild Horses are sacred to us. My ancestors used horses for surviving harsh environments and getting away from any trouble. We still use them for hunting. In war they are painted to show that you and the horse are one, he’s just guiding you wherever you may lead him. Navajos really care for their horses. Just trust the horse and the horse will trust and understand you and what you are asking from him. We still have wild horses on our Rez. When I see them running I remember all the stories and how we are related, one sacred family.
