I wanted to make this piece in a way for the audience to see that the female in the photo is someone who is protecting their freedom. The chains and darkness around the exterior of the angel wings are the dark thoughts that tend to run through the mind of a soul that feels trapped in a place where they feel like they can’t escape. The wings are what’s protecting the heart, which represents the healing and growth the female has earned during her independence away from home.
