Within my artwork I wanted to depict a young Diné woman. Rather than look behind she is looking forward. She is moving forward and looking toward her future. Within herself there is this sort of growth happening. The corn plant represents just that, it represents her development and knowledge. That is something I yearn for my Diné people, culture and myself. I want us to carry ourselves pridefully and looking to create a bright future for ourselves. I want us to move forward rather than look behind. We are capable of so much.
