Trevan Long Feather

22, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe

In the middle of a pandemic, my community rallied together and hosted a covid-friendly powwow, or wačípi, and brought our community together during a time of isolation. We adapted. We overcame. Our future will be the same. We will adapt. We will overcome. We will find ways to revive our culture, our people, and our community, by showing our resilience in the face of adversity. It may not look the same as it once was, but we will continue to make our ancestors proud of where we’ve gone.
