Hamilton advances culture and promotes healthy lifestyles through traditional sports. After losing his father to suicide, he became an avid Native War Canoe racer and organized his peers for a youth canoe racing team. Hamilton believes that engaging other youth in canoe racing can promote health, prevent suicide and substance abuse, address grief, and encourage healing.

Since being named a Champion for Change, Hamilton has used CNAY as a platform to connect with other organizations like We R Native, where he uses his same initiative to address suicide awareness and prevention as a We R Native Youth Ambassador. Hamilton has served on the Executive Committee for United National Indian Tribal Youth, Inc. (UNITY) as Northwest Regional Representative from 2014-2016, and as UNITY Male Co-President from 2016-2018.
