While a student at Pomona College, Rory founded and directed the Claremont College IndigeNATION Scholars program. IndigeNATION pairs Claremont mentors with Native students at three local high schools to facilitate college readiness sessions, teach cultural education, and strengthen connections between Native students and their communities. Rory has spoken about the importance of educational equity and tribal sovereignty at high-profile events like the White House Tribal Nations Conference and an Aspen Institute forum on the meaning of American citizenship called Citizen’s University, among others. Rory earned a White House internship with the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs in 2016 and was awarded both the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Award and Udall Undergraduate Scholarship in 2017.
