I am a contemporary Iñupiaq artist living in Palmer, Alaska. I started my journey in art carving masks to connect more with my culture. Now I would like to continue carving mask but also begin making crocheted dolls showcasing our atikluks and traditional tattoos for kids.
This mask is a representation of my culture and my connection to it. I used traditional tattoos on the chin and I used a traditional style of earrings. The mask also has my fathers hair on showing my connection with him since he is Iñupiaq also.
