Diné
Age: 22
My name is Roger Beyal and I am 22 years old, I am an enrolled member of the Diné Nation. My clans are Tó’dich’iinii born for Kinłichii’nii. My maternal grandparents are Naneesht’ézhí Táchii’nii and my paternal grandparents are Ma’ii Deeshgiizhnii. This is how I identify myself as a Diné Ashkii I am currently a Junior at Northern Arizona University majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor is Political Science.
My submission is a Beaded Tie and I named it “Diné Binahagha” which represents the medicine that all Diné people carry into their homes and the Diyin Dine’é (holy ones) that bring blessings and harmony to my people. I utilized the traditional designs that depict Mother Earth, Father Sky, The Universe, The Rainbow, Crops, Livestock, and the Mountains. Which are all sacred beings that keep all things in balance and shows our connectedness to all that transpire around us. It is my way of honoring my tribe and showing my sense of belonging to Nahasdzáán Nihimá (Mother Earth).
