Meskwaki and Sac and Fox
Age: 18
Abstract expressionism was my first gateway into making art. It was my only outlet with feelings I didn’t like to feel. Then as I gained interest and skill it started turning into wondering about the potential of art and creativity. Just this past school year I was interested in the deeper side of reality and the human mind. Subjects like; psychology, philosophy, and spirituality. These interests skyrocketed my creative ability and understanding of my art and unconscious connection. Now I hope to make a living off art and be the best.
I say belonging doesn’t matter. But if I should include anything about it, I would say that what my art could represent is my exception-ability as an artist and as a native. I would say that I also represent native spirit, seeing as how it’s unbreakable and stronger than how we’re depicted as. There’s a certain strength to what I do and how I do it and who I am, but all that’s really important is what I’m making and how it contributes to past achievements in native history. I’m but a stepping stone to racial harmony.
