Understanding Native Youth Foster Care Experiences: An Anonymous Survey

The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) is conducting a short anonymous survey to learn more about Native youth experiences in foster care to help inform the development of an initiative designed to create safe spaces for Native youth with lived experience in foster care to meaningful advocate for changes to the system.

Native youth are overrepresented in the foster care system yet underrepresented in state and federal level conversations about child wellbeing and foster care. Now, more than ever, case workers, judges, lawyers, state & tribal policy makers need to hear from Native youth who experience foster care firsthand to make positive changes to the system.

To better understand the representation gaps that exist and the unique experiences that Native youth face in the foster care system, Understanding Native Youth Foster Care Experiences: An Anonymous Survey aims to learn more about:

  • Opportunities for foster care advocacy for Native youth
  • The tools Native youth with lived experience in foster care need to advocate for change
  • What experiences are unique to Native youth in foster care

If you have ever been adopted or placed in foster care, we want to hear from you!
