From February to May 2026, the Pūko’a Fellowship hosted its first cohort of fellows. The progam—a collaboration between Hawaiian Diaspora and the Center for Native American Youth—aims to provide young Pasifika scholars in the diaspora with the tools, values, and knowledge base to maintain their connection to Oceania through community-rooted advocacy on their college campuses and beyond.
The inaugural cohort of Pūkoʻa Fellows represented an incredibly vibrant constellation of the Pasifika diaspora experience, including 7 Oceanic nations, 12 U.S. states, 12 academic disciplines and 9 generationally diaspora.
