Cydnee Weber (she/they) is a descendant of the Cherokee Nation and Pamunkey Indian Tribe. She earned her Associate of Arts and Science from Lincoln Trail College in August, 2020. She is currently working towards receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Since February 2022, Cydnee has worked as a Student Ambassador at the Native American House at UIUC. She has worked on various projects which include developing a beading series, establishing a database of Native alumni and faculty members, and helping create promotional materials for events such as Indigenous Peoples Day, Native American Heritage Month, and #RockYourMocs. Through being involved at the Native American House, Cydnee has been able to attend outside events such as the Native American Summit at Illinois’ Capitol. In the summer of 2022, Cydnee was an intern for the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. While interning at the museum, she was given the opportunity to help create and design and exhibit. Cydnee’s main research was on Anishinaabe traditions that surrounded the Great Lakes. She primarily focused on the creation story of the Apostle Islands and the legendary water panther, Mishipeshu. This exhibit is currently on display at the museum.
