4/18: Gen-I NOW: United Nations Association Leadership Summit

This Gen-I Native Opportunities Weekly (NOW) message shares information about the United Nations Association (UNA) USA Leadership Summit.

The UNA-USA Leadership Summit will be hosted at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC, from June 10-12. Participants will meet with high-ranking U.S. Government and UN officials, learn from global experts, gain invaluable tools to bring back home, and urge Congress to stand with the United Nations. Selected summit participants will receive a travel scholarship (reimbursement for up to $350 for food, registration, and travel to Washington, D.C.), and/or will receive free housing in the George Washington University dorm housing block. Students should be committed to leading UNA chapters at their schools, and be available to participate in the entire summit. The following states will be given priority: Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Summit Scholarships are limited, so apply today!

Eligibility: Applicants must 

  • Be rising university first years, sophomores, or juniors;
  • Have an interest in global affairs and advocacy; and
  • Commit to attending the entire summit from 8 AM Sunday, June 10 to 5 PM on Tuesday, June 12.

*Note: Applicants must be at least 18 years old by June 1 to qualify for housing support.
