7/17 Gen-I NOW: 2nd Creative Native Call for Art
This Gen-I Native Opportunities Weekly (NOW) message shares information about the 2nd Creative Native Call for Art.
Creative Native is a call for art that supports young Indigenous artists ages 5-24 years old by providing them with an opportunity to receive national recognition, funding for art supplies, and an award of $200. An artist between the ages of 15-24 will also be recognized as the grand prize winner and have their art featured on the cover of CNAY’s 2019 State of Native Youth report. The cover artist will be flown to Washington, D.C. to participate in the report release event in November. Click here to read about last year’s cover artist and the other winners.
The 2nd Annual Creative Native Call for Art is sponsored by the Center for Native American Youth (CNAY), the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), and Indian Country Counts.
This year’s Call for Art prompt is:
“I am a Native youth and I count. What does citizenship and sense of belonging mean to me?”
This year’s theme focuses on the Census, and what ‘belonging’ and ‘counting’ means to Native youth. Examples of submissions include, but are not limited to: paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, beadwork, carvings, baskets, etc.
Application Deadline: August 9, 2019 11:59 PM Eastern Time.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Self-identify as Indigenous;
- Be between the ages of 5 and 24 years old by the application deadline;

SUBMITTING YOUR ART:

*To be eligible for the State of Native Youth report cover art, artists must be between the ages of 15-24 years old.
**Each artist may submit one art submission to the 2019 Call for Art. Artists may submit up to three (3) images of their artwork, displaying alternate angles and perspectives if needed.

Currently reside in the United States; and Submit a high-resolution image of art.
