Poarch Band of Creek Indians Contributes $25K to Center for Native American Youth
March 21, 2017, Washington, DC — The Poarch Band of Creek Indians recently contributed $25,000 to the Center for Native American Youth at The Aspen Institute (CNAY) in support of CNAY’s mission to increase opportunity and decrease barriers to success for young Native Americans.
Robbie McGhee,Vice Chair of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, has served on the Executive Committee of CNAY’s Board of Advisors since its founding in 2011 and has been a committed strategic partner in this role.
“The Center for Native American Youth creates multiple pathways to success and leadership for Native young people,” said Vice Chair Robbie McGhee. “We are proud to support CNAY’s efforts to give young Native leaders the tools and training needed to advocate for themselves and their tribal communities. Investing in Native youth is essential to strengthening tribal nations.”
“The support of tribal leadership is critical to the work of the Center for Native American Youth,” said CNAY Founder Senator Byron Dorgan (ret.). “This contribution from the Poarch Band of Creek Indians allows us to reach hundreds more Native American youth in tribal communities throughout the United States, and will make a real difference in our ability to nurture young Native leaders.”
The contribution provides critical support for CNAY’s Native youth leadership initiatives like the Champions for Change program, the Generation Indigenous National Native Youth Network, and other programming designed to meet the dynamic needs of Native youth.
