SYDNEY

I am a 14 year old Tsimshian and Tlingit of the Raven Clan. My families come from Metlakatla, Kake, and Angoon, AK and I live in Juneau. I am a freshman that enjoys doing ceramics, drawing, and painting. I play basketball and run track. I am very proud of my cultures. I am grateful to learn about my cultures from my family and at school. The aspect of my culture that I like the most is the formline drawing. I am a big sister to my cousins and brother.

My raven clan inspired me to make these as a way to express my clan on a daily basis at school and in the community. By doing this I hope it will inspire others to be who they are and who they were mean to be. We have to express it today because we must keep the culture alive. Sometimes forgetfulness can make it hard to continue culture, especially when grandparents die and we cannot ask questions.
